I dag med en englænder !

Var i morges forbi Nordisk Morris Minor Lager for at aflevere en Allegro forlygte jeg havde lånt til Clan'en - og for at hente et par småting, herunder et nyt tankdæksel. De dele jeg søgte var dog hverken på lager eller til lige at skaffe..

Hmmm ! På vej hjem fra Hjørring sad jeg derfor lige og overvejede, om livet i virkeligheden var nemmest med fx en Midget? Det skal i den forbindelse nævnes, at jeg var ret opstemt af Team Midget Racings video fra Ellested KTI, der kan nydes her (med lyd på !):
Jeg har set videoen et par gange de seneste to aftener og tjekkede derfor lige diverse bilsider i moderlandet. Her faldt over dette fine og tunede eksemplar:

Engine- Prep by a very well know engineer called Rob Walker in Oxfordshire, it has been offset rebore to 74mm piston and a cross hatch hone, the engine size is now 1399cc. Cam bearing replace, 11th stud+bolt like proper cooper S engine had. The cylinder head also has been prepped by Rob the work being done by having a bigger inlet and outlet valve gasflow and ported, double valve spring. Modified crankshaft- wedged, crossdrill and balance with lightened flywheel+pulley. This engine is fitted with a Piper 285 camshaft.

Gearbox- Rebuilt with brand new bearing and gasket, also fitted with straight cut close ratio gearset, it has got a brand new 1st gear hub. It has got an uprated clutch from MOSS! Plus with braided clutch hoses.

Suspension- It has been upgraded in many ways such as a thicker anti roll bar, 25% uprated damper all corner, full polyurethane bushes in the whole car apart from the anti roll bar, uprated front coil spring as well as uprated rear leaf spring with lowering spacer kit.

Brakes- Front has been upgraded with EBC greenstuff brake pad fitted with brand new uprated cross drilled brake disc also fitted with fully rebuilt brake callipers with new piston and rubber seal. These upgrades really improve the braking. Rear is standard but fully rebuilt. The whole brake system is fitted with a Goodridge hose set. Exhaust- Has been upgraded with Moss sport exhaust manifold and a straight flow sport exhaust system which sound fantastic!

Ignition- Has had been upgraded with aldon fast road distributors to cope with the modified camshaft. It is fitted with a Lucas sport coil and fitted with a Cobalt lead set. It has got a brand new heavy duty battery as well.´

Fuel- It has got a fast road facet high capacity fuel pump. Linked with a king filter regulator which has got a built in fuel regulator and filter to keep dirt out. The engine is linked with a Weber 45 DCOE carburettor with an alloy manifold.

The car is fitted with a lovely Mohair hood from the MG Owner Club. There are also many new parts fitted to the car such as headlights etc. The car has had a full re-spray. It looks great but there are minor flaws which can’t be seen very well on the photos but I am more than happy to have the viewer to check it out.

Hmmm igen... Måske sådan en Midget både er nemmest og sjovest ? Jeg skal i hvert fald have en Midget en gang, gerne med en Ashley hardtop som denne:

  1. hej Morten, har haft et par stykker, men kun med original motor og der er altså for lidt punch i dem. Vil dog gerne have en frø med motoren fra den i artiklen :)

    Midget er selvfølgelig den perfekte billige bil til sjov og ballade. Og kan tunes for få penge.
